Mythological History :

Tirupati Venkateswara Temple is a Hindu temple located in the hill town of Tirumala in Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple is dedicated to Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu who is believed to have appeared on earth to save mankind from the trials and tribulations of Kaliyuga. Therefore this place is also named Kaliyuga Vaikuntha and the deity here is called Kaliyuga Pratyaksha Daivam. This temple is also known by other names like Tirumala Temple, Tirupati Temple, and Tirupati Balaji Temple. Venkateswara is known by many other names including Balaji, Govinda, and Srinivas.

Located on Tirumala Mountain in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, this temple is one of the most prominent and sacred pilgrimage sites in India. Apart from this, it is also one of the richest temples in India. This temple full of miracles and mysteries is known not only in India but all over the world. The main deity of this temple is Sri Venkateshwara Swamy, who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself and resides with his wife Padmavati on Tirumala Mountain.

Tradition of hair donation in Tirupati Balaji temple: According to beliefs, devotees whose wishes are fulfilled come to the temple and offer (donate) their hair to Venkateswara Swamy. Despite being in the south, the entire country has faith in this temple. This tradition is not only from today but has been going on for many centuries, which even today the devotees continue to follow with great devotion. The specialty of this temple is that not only men donate their hair here but women and girls also donate their hair with devotion.

 Belief about Tirupati Balaji temple: According to mythological beliefs, Lord Vishnu resided for some time on the banks of a lake named Swami Pushkarni. This lake is situated on the hill of Tirumala. That is why the hills around Tirupati, formed based on the seven hoods of Sheshnag, are called 'Saptagiri'.This temple of Sri Venkateswaraiah is situated on the seventh hill of Saptagiri, which is also known by the name Venkatadri. It is said that the idol of the Lord present in the temple has not been made by anyone but it has arisen on its own.

Tirupati Balaji Temple is also known as the 'Temple of Seven Hills'. This temple was built around the third century and has been renovated from time to time by rulers of different dynasties. By the 5th century, this temple had become the main religious center of the Sanatanis. It is said that this temple was originated by the Vaishnav sect. It was captured by the Pallava rulers of Kanchipuram in the 9th century. If we talk about the fame of this temple, it gained a lot of fame after the 15th century.

Story of Tirupati Balaji Temple: Once Lord Vishnu was resting on his bed in Ksheer Sagar with his wife Lakshmi when sage Bhrigu came there and kicked him in the chest. Not getting angry about this, Vishnu ji caught the feet of Rishi Bhrigu and asked, Rishivar, are your feet hurt? But Lakshmi ji did not like this behavior of the sage and she got angry and left Vaikuntha and was born on earth as a girl named Padmavati.

On this, Lord Vishnu changed his form in the form of Venkateswara and approached Mother Padmavati and proposed marriage, which the goddess accepted, and then both of them got married. Even today, the idol in Tirupati temple is decorated in half-male and half-female clothes. It is believed that Lord Venkateswara Swamy resides here with his wife Padmavati.

Important facts about Tirupati Balaji Temple: As soon as you enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there is a stick kept on the right side, with which it is said that Balaji's mother used to beat him with the same stick. During the beating itself, he got an injury on his chin, to which his mother said that Sandalwood paste was applied, which is still going on as a tradition. Venkateswara Swamy himself resides in the idol of the temple and that is why the hair on the head of the idol is real, which never gets entangled with each other and remains soft. When one listens to the idol, the sound of sea waves is heard and there is always moisture in the idol. There is a lamp in the temple, which has been burning continuously for many centuries. The mysterious thing is that neither oil nor ghee is ever put in this lamp. On entering the sanctum sanctorum, the idol is seen situated in the middle but when seen from outside the sanctum sanctorum, the idol is situated on the right side of the sanctum sanctorum. Is visible. Pachai camphor is applied to the idol of Venkateswara Swamy. According to science, applying Pachai camphor causes the stone to crack after some time this camphor has been being applied to Tirupati Balaji for years but even today the idol is completely safe. Tirupati ji is adorned with sandalwood every Thursday and when this sandalwood is applied When the coating is removed, the image of Mata Lakshmi emerges near the heart of the idol. It is believed that Mata Lakshmi is contained in Balaji. That is why every day during the adornment of the idol, the dhoti is worn below and the saree is worn above. The idol of Tirupati Balaji is made of a black stone, Which appears to be a living statue. The environment of the sanctum sanctorum is kept very cool, despite this, drops of sweat appear on the idol. It is believed that Balaji feels extremely hot, due to which his back always remains moist.



Timing Of Temple:

Tirupati Balaji Temple has a general darshan for the general public every week and the timings of each day are different. General darshan is from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Whereas on Wednesday and Friday, this time is from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM. There is a special darshan arrangement for senior citizens also in Tirupati Balaji temple. Here senior citizens can have darshan in the slot from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM.
