There is a belief that any devotee who comes to this temple with true faith, Mother Kali ends all his sorrows. In Hinduism, temples dedicated to Goddess Kali are revered because of their association with divine power and protection. Badi Mata Kali is related to the Kali temple of Lucknow, the importance of which is that it is said that by worshiping Goddess Kali, all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled. Goddess Kali, considered a fierce and protective form of the divine feminine in Hindu religion, protects the devotees from all evil and discord. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, this temple is famous for strength, courage, and protection from negative powers. Badi Mata Kali is worshiped to destroy obstacles and attain spiritual liberation. It is believed that if devotees worship in the Mata Kali clay temple, then Mata Kali destroys all their sins. By fulfilling the wishes of the devotees, Mother Kali also eliminates all the troubles in their lives.

Mythological history:

Mother Kali is considered to be the most awakened goddess in the Hindu religion. The oldest temple among the temples of Mata Kali is located in the city of Lucknow. This temple is said to be about 2400 years old. Mata Kali is present in this temple in the form of Mata Lakshmi and Lord Narayana. The idols of Goddess Kali situated in this temple are made of very ancient Ashtadhatu. Devotees come here from far and wide to seek the blessings of the Mother and receive the blessings of the Mother. And devotees worship and pray to Jan Mata. A monastery is also operated in this temple, in which the Buddhist Gaya Monastery is mainly operated.

There is a belief regarding this temple in Sanatan Dharma that if any devotee comes and has darshan of Mata every day for 40 consecutive days, whatever his wish will be, he will get it. It will be fulfilled only 4 times in the whole year. Ashtami and Navami dates of Navratri are taken out for the darshan of the devoteesThrough which the devotees can visit the temple only 4 times a year, after which these idols made of Ashtadhatu are kept back in the sanctum sanctorum. It is believed that all the wishes are fulfilled by seeing the idols of Ashtadhatu. For this reason, on the Ashtami and Navami days of Navratri, devotees come to visit in large numbers. The idols of Mata Badi Kali are bathed daily. The water taken for bathing keeps getting collected in a pond in the temple. The devotees coming to the temple, after having the darshan of the Mother Goddess, drink the water of the temple pond and apply that water on their eyes which helps in getting rid of all their diseases. And they accept this water as Prasad, which cures all diseases in their body. If any disease is not cured even after many treatments, then with the blessings of Mother Kali, the diseases are destroyed with this water. That's why all the devotees go here and apply the water of Mata Kali in their eyes.

There is a temple in Lucknow about which it is said that when the temples were being demolished by the Mughals, the Mughals were also going to attack the Kali temple in Lucknow. After this, the priest of the temple put the idol of Maa Kali in a well. So that the Mughals could not destroy the idol. After that, came the dream of the same priest that the idol should be taken out from the well. When the idol was taken out by the people, its form was found to be different. The idol of Kali Maa was put in the well and out came Vishnu and the Statue of Goddess Lakshmi. You will be quite surprised to hear this but the belief is that when the idol was taken out from the well in which the idol of Maa Kali was hidden, the idol of Vishnu and Lakshmi was found in place of the idol of Maa Kali, after which the same idol was placed in the temple. The puja started.

Vishnu Lakshmi ji is worshiped only in the form of Maa Kali. If the priest of the temple is to be believed, then in this temple the idol of Vishnu Lakshmi ji is also worshiped as the idol of Maa Kali.
