According to Hindu mythology, worshiping at Omkareshwar removes all kinds of troubles, and holy festivals like Maha Shivratri and Masik Shiv Ratri are huge festivals and rituals in which Shiva devotees travel from all over the country to participate. Come to pick it up.

 Mythological History:

Among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, Omkareshwar situated in Madhya Pradesh comes fourth. Here Lord Shiva is seated on the Om-shaped mountain on the banks of river Narmada. There are many beliefs regarding Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga in the Hindu religion. The biggest belief is that Lord Bholenath, after touring all three worlds, comes to this temple every day to sleep at night. Regarding this miraculous and mysterious Jyotirlinga of Mahadev, it is also believed that without offering water at this holy place, all the pilgrimages of a person are considered incomplete.

There are three popular stories related to Omkareshwar temple, one of which, once Narad ji reached Vindhyanchal mountain. As soon as he reached there, Vindhyachal, known as the mountain king, honored Narad ji. After this Vindhyachal mountain king said that I am blessed with all the qualities, I have everything. Narad ji kept listening to the words of Parvatraj and remained silent. When the mountain king finished talking, Narad ji said to him I know that you are full of all qualities but still, you are not as tall as Mount Sameru. Look at Mount Sumeru whose part reaches the heavenly bodies but you can never reach there.

Hearing these things, Narad ji, the king of Vindhyachal mountain started thinking to prove himself superior. Narad ji's words hurt him a lot and he became very upset because here his ego was defeated. Due to his desire to make himself the highest, he decided to worship Lord Shiva. He pleased Lord Shiva by doing rigorous penance for about 6 months. Ultimately Lord Shiva was very pleased with Vindhyachal and he appeared and asked for a boon.

On this Vindhyanchal mountain said that hey! May God grant me wisdom and whatever work I start may be successful. In this way, Vindhyanchal Mountain received a boon. Seeing Lord Shiva, the nearby sages came there and prayed to Lord Shiva to reside there. Thus Lord Shiva obeyed everyone, and the Linga established were divided into two Lingams. Out of this, the earthly linga established by Vindhyachal was named Mamleshwar Linga while the place where Lord Shiva is believed to reside came to be known as Omkareshwar Shivlinga.

The big mystery of the Mahadev temple: Like the Bhasma Aarti of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling in Ujjain, the Shayan Aarti of Omkareshwar Temple is world-famous. However, in the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple, the aarti of Lord Shiva is performed for three prayers in the morning and evening. It is believed that Lord Shiva comes here to sleep every day at night. It is also believed that in this temple Mahadev plays backgammon with Mother Parvati. This is the reason why Chaupar is spread here at night and surprisingly in the temple inside which even the bird cannot hit during the night, in the morning Chaupar and its dice are found scattered in such a way as at night. Someone must have played it.

Dhanteras worship: There is a special significance of offering jowar at this temple every year on the night of Diwali, there is a vigil on this night and Abhishek Puja is done from 4 am on the morning of Dhanteras. After this, Mahayagya, Havan, and Bhandara of Kuber Mahalakshmi are done and the Lakshmi Vriddhi Packet (Siddhi ) is distributed, Which has to be taken home and kept in the place where money is kept as per the rituals on the new moon day of Diwali, which brings happiness and peace along with abundant wealth. On this occasion, thousands of devotees come from far and wide and get abundant wealth by getting Kuber's treasure.
