Haridwar Tirth kshetra is a special and very important Tirth kshetra for Hindus. This Tirth Kshetra is on the banks of the river Ganges, Haridwar means "Gateway to God." Devotees come to the Haridwar pilgrimage area because the River Ganga is considered the most sacred river in the Hindu religion. It is believed that taking a dip in Ganga water not only eliminates all the diseases of the body but also purifies the soul. It is from the Haridwar pilgrimage area that the river Ganga descends from the mountains and enters the plains, hence this pilgrimage area is considered the center of pilgrimage in Hindu religion. The Haridwar pilgrimage site is one of the seven most sacred places in Hinduism. According to religious belief, "During the Kumbh Mela, the world's largest religious event, drops of the nectar of immortality fell at a special bathing place, Har Ki Pauri." Therefore, the Haridwar pilgrimage area is considered to be the most important and sacred pilgrimage site. According to religious belief, taking a bath in Haridwar and donating food eliminates all the troubles in life. By providing food to sages, ascetics, and Brahmins in the Haridwar pilgrimage area, along with freedom from Pitra Dosh, one also gets the blessings of the ancestral deities and Lord Shiva.
